The San Francisco Hipster & Dot Com Homesteader War

Bay Area Based comedy troupe “Killing My Lobster” knock it out of the park.  It may be a lot funnier if you have lived in SF within the last few years, but if you know hipsters and their coffee this will be worthy of a laugh or two.

Ken Block is Back!

Ken Block, who is a WRC driver, skateboarder, snowboard and co-founder and CBO (Chief Brand Officer) of DC Shoes; just put out a new video.  In this vid he is doing another redonkulous Gymkhana rally.  Gymkhana is:

Is an automotive sport that takes place in a parking lot, an abandoned airport, an international shipping port or an epic 86-year old European track that requires drivers to skillfully maneuver the cars around a series of cones, slaloms, turns, figure eights and possibly a 51-degree bank using extreme acceleration, braking and drifting.

Similar to “autocross”, Gymkhana courses are often complex, and memorizing the course is a significant part of this type of motorsport.

As always… watch this thing fullscreen at 1080p.  It is damn impressive…

The de-evolution continues…

I saw this over on Bruce Sterling’s Wired blog the other day.  Truly stunning work.  It’s the kind of art, vision and talent that just really resonates with you.  It also reminded me of Scott Pilgrim, which I also love.

OH… and watch it in HD, seriously.

Prank Wars: part 7

I haven’t really been following the internet meme “Prank Wars” by a few of the members over at College Humor, but I recall catching bits and pieces of the pranks.  Here is the most recent one pulled on Amir. After seeing the last one Amir pulled I have no sympathy for him and feel this was well deserved.  Pretty damn impressive setup if you ask me…

The only way this is going to end is with one of the pranks ending in death, I think.

“Hibi no nerio” music video

I have no idea what it means, nor do I need to (all though I do want to).  I was literally speechless after watching this amazing video.  Give it a few seconds and I am sure you will feel the same way.

Mexican Gravity Hammer!

If you have never played Halo 3, the Gravity Hammer is a devastating weapon in the game.  Its also tons of fun to just slam people and see them flying.  From the following video, it appears that the gravity hammer was probably inspired by these young gentlemen in Mexico:

That looks both amazingly scary and awesome at the same time.

bonus video, the gravity hammer in action:

Boston One-Man Cover Band

Okay, its technically three-man act, but a one-man band.  The mutli-part one man YouTube video meme is getting a little stale, but this one is damn impressive.  Rock out baby!

Hipsters are so ‘83

I was reading a tweet by @mdowney which referred to a post on BuzzFeed about the top 10 Michael Jackson acapella videos. This post is not about that… well, not directly anyway. I was watching the video for “Beat It” and during the breakdown/fight scene I had an amazing revelation. Holy SH*T!!! THOSE THUGS ARE HIPSTERS!

So, apparently hipsters are 1983 thugs from the “Beat It” video. Amazing but true. Check out around 2:30 in the video to revel in the pre-hipster-hipster fashion.
