Holy edible circuit board! This is just the coolest food make ever. Why couldn’t we have had someone think this up when I was a kid? This is the kind of nerd fun that arts and crafts time is all about. Construction paper turkey’s and circuit boards!! I may have actually learned more about hardware if I had this project 20 years ago… maybe.

If you’re the type that’s looking for a good song to enjoy in the morning while you excrete 20-sided die-shaped stools in the bathroom on your way to the shower, before you head out to the community park for a good duct-tape sword bludgeoning, I’ve got just the thing! Let’s get you totally pumped up for the battle that lies ahead. For glory and honor!

I love Tesla Coils. I remember the first time a saw one when I was a small boy. It was at an Academy of Science in Dallas or Fort Worth, the actual location is hazy, but sitting in the audience watching the electricity arc out was the coolest thing ever. They are even cooler today. Spending the last 10 years in San Francisco and being a DJ, eventually you play or attend at least one party that has a Tesla Coil. The last one I saw was at the Steampunk Treehouse Fundraiser where I was DJing a set. They had this massive 10′+ Tesla Coil that was both deafening and f***ing cool. Especially since I was on the same level as the top of the coil and the electricity kept killing my midi/usb sync to my laptop.
Since that last in-person demo I have been seeing a new trend in “singing” coils, something I have not experienced in person yet. By modulating the resonant frequency of the coil you can make them play songs. Oh Science, is there nothing you can’t do? The first video is the original video of a singing coil I had seen. Below is a new one featuring the “Imperial March”:

Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim series continually produces some of the best adult-centric cartoons under the William Street brand. Classics like Aquateen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse and the amazing Venture Brothers. The Venture Brothers, the topic of this post, is a modern version of Johnny Quest, if Johnny grew up having massive abandonment issues, over inflated self-entitlement due to a wealthy and brilliant scientist father, and was addicted to diet and pain pills.
Rusty Venture is the “Johnny Quest” character, now grown up and with two sons: Dean and Hank. You have the mullet sporting, muscled ex-CIA bodygaurd: Brock Samson, voiced by Patrick Warburton. And the the menagarie of good and evil villians, including some of my personal favorites such as Dr. Girlfriend, the Monarch, Phantom Limb, Dr. Henry Killenger, the evil moppets and of course the Abbot and Castello pair: #21 and #24 (henchmen of the Monarch).
In season 3, it ends with a huge twist/shock to those that watch the show. If you have not seen the show, you should… now! Go buy the DVDs, get them off iTunes or some other service. Do yourself a favor and watch the show from start to finish, it is a fantastic experience with amazing characters and the plot is damn good. For those that do watch the show, head over to Io9 where they have great tidbits from a panel interview with Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick (the show’s creators) at ComicCon. Warning: the post has a LOT of spoilers if you have not seen the end of Season 3. You’ve been warned!!

Recently I started watching a TV show that highlights the best and worst things about American restaurants. The show is called, Man Vs. Food and it pits the host Adam Richman against America’s top restaurant eating challenges; things like eating a 72 oz steak in under an hour, or how many 3 pound breakfast tacos can you eat before you die. Things like that. Its disgusting, its gluttonous, its pure brilliant awesome USA chanting entertainment!
Man Vs. Food is like the Las Vegas of the Travel Channel… everything that is both right and wrong with America in one giant serving. In the same vein of MvF, the website, “This Is Why You Are Fat” pays homage to glorious dietary destroyers. Things no man or woman should ever ingest, yet they do proudly while huming “God Bless America” as a thread of grease drips from the sagging jowls. Its wonderus, its horrifying… it almost always includes bacon. Truly, god bless America.

Charlie Kratzer decided that he was not happy with his cream colored walls. Using a sharpie marker he then proceeded to draw an inspired mural across his entire basement. Its damn impressive if you ask me.

By now, pretty much most meme-aholics have heard the vocal isolation track of Van Halen’s “Running with the Devil” featuring the crazed wails, screams, whistles and OH YEAH’s of David Lee Roth. The song was included on the seminal 1978 release of Van Halen’s self-titled debut. Due to the release date and the extreme rock qualities of the album, this clearly makes the album “Van Halen” Classic Rock.
Jump ahead to 1979, barely a year later, another great is born. Black and white line graphics represent your ship as it blasts and drifts through monstrous rocks in the darkness of deep space. Asteroids is considered by many to be one of the great games of the past arcade mania, a legend that still lives in our hearts today. Truly a Classic game.
Due the close proximity of time, there is a good chance that many Asteroids players listend to “Running with the Devil” while blasting rocks into smaller and smaller bits, while difting, ever drifting. Thanks to the boyz/girlz at shitbagz, you can now play Assteriodz, The Diamond Dave Edition featuring Van Halen. A true classic paring, like fine wine and cheese. If the wine is a Flash casual game and cheese is the over the top stylings of Diamond Dave. Good times.

Taste Spotting is a food/reciepe aggregator that has a beautiful food porn-esque UI that features amazing recipes, food reviews and other foodie centric topics. I recently subscribed to the RSS feed and already some amazing recipes have already flown through. The first day I found this site I made a fantastic White Bean and Chicken chili that was by far one of the best non-Texas style chilies I have had (originally being from Texas this is an important note). The RSS is a little busy (lots and lots of content) so this may be more of a bookmark kind of site for most people, but those of you fellow foodies will understand that this has been a wonderful find.

This video is of a kid coming back from the dentist after being sedated. I think I’ve asked each of these questions and made each of these observations while under the influence. This video is proof that drugs are the universal equalizer.
