A Meme I Can Actually Get Behind

1 – Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random… Read More… Read More”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 – Go to “Random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 – Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 – Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.
5 – Post it with this text
Note: I’d also feel free to hit those links a few times to get stuff that will have the best impact… that’s what I did. Hell, use your own picture if you want. Rules were made to be broken! Or just follow the directions to the letter if you want. Fun!

The Weekender
92YTribeca is an arts and enterainment venue in NYC that focuses on providing classes, shows and lectures about the entertaiment industry. Not being from NYC nor living there I don’t know much about it but I stumbled upon a great spoof video that is an ad for 92YTribeca. If you watch much comedy, you will probably recognize a lot of the faces in the video (ex: Paul Rudd, Michael Ian Black, Todd Barry).

Using Digital Artifacts For Art
KANYE WEST “Welcome To Heartbreak” Directed by Nabil from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.
You have probably seen digital aritfacts when watching a highly compressed video or when your cable feed goes wonky for a bit. They are the little squares and pixels that drift around and obscure the source you are watching. In Nabil Elderkin’s mind, the director of the new Kanye West video, digital artifacts are not a bad thing but a tool to create an inspring video. Even if you dislike Kanye because of his gigantic ego and hubris its still worth checking out.

Wyckyd Sceptre
For the fans of Mr. Show, you will probably agree the above scene has to be one of the more classic skits they have done. I recently started watching the DVDs again (’cause nothing decent was on TV and it had been ages since I last watched it) and seeing this scene just cracked me up. Even 11 years after this episode aired, Mr. Show is still just as funny now as it was then.
For those of you not familar with Mr. Show, it was a sketch comedy show on HBO that starred Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. Bob Odenkirk has been a writer on the Ben Stiller Show, Conan O’Brien, SNL, Tenacious D, and Tom Goes To The Mayor. David Cross is a stand-up comedian and actor featured in Arrested Development, Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind and the seminal comdey CD Shut Up You F***ing Baby! Other members of the cast included Tom Kinney and Sarah Silverman.

An Email Tale
Some people know how to write random, hysterical and absolutely enthralling emails. Jenny Lawson, who writes as the Bloggess, has been receiving emails from one of these talented people for a long time now. The emailer’s name is Nancy W. Kappes and as Jenny states:
“Every couple of days I get an email from a woman in Indiana named Nancy W. Kappes and it is the highlight of my entire fucking week. Basically it’s like we’re having a really long weird conversation except I’m not actually talking”
Which, after reading her emails I 100% agree. Well worth the time!

Going to Bangkok
The 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors are a fantastic San Francisco-based comedy troupe. They are truly the Asian-American direct descendants of the great Monty Python.
Anyone else reminded of this?

Obama curses up a shit-storm
Apparently in the audiobook version of Obama’s auto-biography contains recollections of a classmate who had quite a foul mouth. President Obama narrated this audiobook himself. Hit the jump to hear the president say some fucking shit you never thought you’d hear a president say. You think you’re prepared for this, but it really does take you by surprise to hear it in his voice.
